The RS21 UK & Ireland Cup – Round 3, held from May 24-27, 2024, was an exciting  event, forming part of the renowned Scottish Series Regatta 2024. The competition took place over four days at Tarbert on Loch Fyne, Across 11 races, competitors faced varying wind conditions, ranging from moderate breezes to gusty, shifting winds, making for a challenging and highly tactical competition. The event was well-organized, with smooth race management and excellent weather throughout, making for a thrilling series of races. 

The primary objectives for Round 3 of the RS21 UK & Ireland Cup, as part of the Scottish Series Regatta, were, to provide competitive and tactical racing in the RS21 class as well as offering a varied and challenging racing format, testing sailors’ adaptability in different conditions.  In addition to enhancing  the profile of the RS21 class within the broader Scottish sailing community.

The event spanned four days as part of the Scottish Series Regatta 2024. A total of 11 races were held for the RS21 fleet, spread over three days of racing. The schedule included both windward-leeward and trapezoid courses to provide variety in the racing.

The weather for the regatta was mostly favourable, with a mix of moderate to gusty winds and mild temperatures.  Loch Fyne offered relatively sheltered waters, allowing for fair racing. However, gusty winds did cause some chop on the downwind legs, adding an extra layer of complexity to the racing. The weather was mild, typical for late May in Scotland. Sunny periods mixed with clouds provided comfortable conditions for both sailors and spectators, with no significant rain during the event.

Feedback from competitors and spectators was overwhelmingly positive. The race committee, organizers, and sponsors were commended for the smooth logistics and organization across the four days of racing. The RS21 UK & Ireland Cup continues to grow in popularity, and many teams expressed excitement for future rounds.

The RS21 UK & Ireland Cup – Round 3 at the Scottish Series Regatta was a success. The event offered exciting racing, perfect sailing conditions, and seamless event organization. The event reinforced the strength and growth of the RS21 class, and we look forward to more thrilling races in future rounds.
